For the Chiefs coach to rest easy on his return back to Naturena he will be hoping that his charges register league win number eleven for the season when they face Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Recent history
Chiefs struggled in the early years on their trips to Durban to face Arrows who contested their first season in the PSL during the 2000 – 2001 campaign, and it was only in the 2005 – 2006 season that Chiefs managed to record their first away win over Arrows.
Chiefs have gone on a good run away from home against Arrows over the past seven seasons since 2003 – 2004 in seven away games against Arrows the Amakhosi have won four games and the remaining three have ended in a draw.
In addition the Amakhosi are unbeaten in league action against Arrows in their last eight league meetings against them, Chiefs last failed to collect points in a league clash against Arrows on February 10 2007.
When Chiefs hosted Arrows on the opening day of the season it was the Amakhosi who ran out 2 – 0 winners, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Valery Nahayo were on target for Chiefs on that occasion.
Current Form
Of their five league games during 2011 Chiefs have managed to win three games, while drawing one and losing another, the Amakhosi come into the game on the back of a 3 – 1 victory over Maritzburg United.
Chiefs have also scored nine goals in these five games with five different players finding the back of the net for the Amakhosi.
Arrows went down 1 – 0 to Vasco Da Gama in their last league outing, over their past five games they have managed two wins while losing three games.
Missing Out
For the second game in succession Chiefs have bucked the trend and go into this game without any players suspended, although The Amakhosi do have question marks over the availability over striker and top scorer Knowledge Musona who went for a scan on his ankle after the game against Maritzburg United. A decision on whether he plays or not is expected later on Wednesday.
Arrows for their part do not have any players suspended, although midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi is unavailable and misses the game through injury.
