This promise was made by club spokesperson Putco Mafani from his offices in Naturena on Monday. The two clubs meet at Soccer City at 15H45 in a crucial PSL encounter where in all reality the three points at stake are the most important affair of the afternoon to both camps.
"We are launching a merciless attack on Imbabala and we cannot afford to drop any points seeing that we will be five games behind the two other pace-setters Sundowns and Swallows already by the time we play on Saturday. We are itching for league action and with all our international players having performed well over the past weekend for their respective countries, and the Macufe Cup win in Bloemfontein we can only intensify the rhythm and sharpen our teeth," said Mafani.
On their side Bush Bucks have not seen good results from their recent games having lost to Sundowns and Arrows respectively but this will not mislead Amakhosi according to Mafani, "opposition's recent results or performances are no consideration to us, when it comes to clubs facing Chiefs and we have seen this not so long ago. Some prepare for us only and lose the rest, thus celebrate the 'Chiefs win' all the way downward to relegation.
“In South Africa, club success is benchmarked by beating Chiefs and that is why every coach and player dies to win against us. The notion that Imbabala will be a walk over could mislead, instead this is going to be one the toughest encounters so far but we are determined to skin them alive infront of thousands of our people and cut them symbolically as a birthday cake for our chairman," he said.
Chiefs last played Bucks two seasons ago in Port Elizabeth in a game whose result saw the Eastern Cape side lose their status in the elite league. The problems in the Bucks camp have been compounded by the rumoured removal of coach Clemens Westerhof from the hot coaching seat due to poor results while Chiefs are still to make their fans happy with a good result from official games since losing to Supersport United in the finals of the SAA Supa 8.
A win against Imbabala on Saturday will give the Naturena side a clean record with the league games so far, as they have 3 wins from 3 games currently while Bucks fans have been embarrassed by their club squeezing only 1 win from 7 outings.
As the game coincides with the chairman's 60th birthday there will be plenty entertainment and details will be made known during the course of the week. Tickets for this encounter are already on sale at Computicket outlets for R20 adults and children's R10 tickets will be sold at the stadium on Saturday.
