Kaizer Chiefs Vs Moroka Swallows

SAA Supa8 ½ Finals

Kings Park Stadium, Durban

24th September 2006

Temperature: 23° C

Kick Off: 15h15

For the seventh time this season since Chiefs opened their 2006 – 2007 campaign against Golden Arrows in the ¼ Finals of the SAA Supa8 in August has Chiefs starting eleven been on any given match day been different to the one that started the previous game.

In keeping with this Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has again tinkered with his game day eleven as he makes three changes to the team that will start against Moroka Swallows in Sunday’s SAA Supa8 Semi Final. Chiefs were lost in midweek for the first time this season by two goals to one at the hands of Wits University, will be going all out to make it to their second SAA Supa8 Final in two years.

The Amakhosi will start carving out their road to the final with three changes to the starting eleven, from the one that started in the 2-1 loss to Wits; Fabian McCarthy makes his first appearance for the Amakhosi this season. The number six comes into the team in place of Derrick Spencer; Ernst Middendorp will be looking towards Fabian’s experience and no nonsense attitude to closing things up in the centre of defence.

It has been in this part of the field that The Amakhosi have looked particularly vulnerable in their last couple of games. McCarthy takes the place of Derrick Spencer who will begin Sunday’s semi final from the substitute’s bench, a further change to the Chiefs team sees Thabo Mooki replace Arthur Zwane in midfield, Zwane has been omitted altogether from the Chiefs squad for the Swallows game.

Kaizer Motaung Junior has also made way in the starting eleven, while he begins Sunday’s game from the bench Louis Agyemang gets his first start of the season replacing Motaung up front where he will be partnered by Shaun Bartlett. The final change of the day sees Jimmy Tau’s resigning his place on the substitute’s bench to Ditheko Mototo who played the first half of Chiefs goalless draw against Ajax Cape Town, a week ago in Kimberley.
