Amakhosi youth teams prepare for Soweto Derby

A week prior to the senior team meeting Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout, Kaizer Chiefs U-13, U-15 and U-17 teams will be featuring in their own Soweto Derby showdowns this Saturday. The young boys will travel to Randburg to face the Chiefs’ rivals Orlando Pirates in Gauteng Development League matches.

The Chiefs U-13 team will be looking to avenge their loss to Pirates in the quarterfinals of the Lucky Star Cup in Cape Town earlier this month - a game they lost on penalties, when they travel to Randburg on Saturday to face their counterparts. Kick-off for this match is at 09:00.

The Chiefs U-15 team welcomes back Goalkeeper Werner Oosthuisen and midfielder Ntando Nkosi who were away with the South Africa U-17 team at the recently completed 2019 COSAFA U-17 Cup in Malawi. Coach Tshidiso Letsholonyane now has them available for selection. Kick-off is at 10h30.

Coach Sundra Govinder will be looking for another hardworking performance from the Amakhosi U-17 team after they performed commendably last weekend in a 2-2 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns. They trailed 2-1 in the game before fighting back to earn a point. kick-off is at 12h00.

The sides will meet again next week with the Chiefs U-13 and U-17 hosting Pirates on Tuesday 29th October at 16h30, while the U-15 team will play host to Pirates U-15’s on Wednesday 30th October also at 16h30.
