The hosts were held into a disappointing goalless draw by Iraq in a Confederations Cup opener at Coca Cola Park on Sunday.
“We need to be more offensive,” said Ace who was donned the Bafana Bafana jersey 16 times.
“It is good that we are playing New Zealand following our disappointing draw on Sunday. Hopefully we can get a win there that will go a long way in boosting the player’s morale ahead of our final group game against Spain,”
Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Monday, Ace said Bafana Bafana need to be ‘offensive’ when they come up against New Zealand.
“Iraq to me is not the strongest of sides and we should have hammered them but I think we were too defensive. I believe Siphiwe Tshabalala should be given a chance; in fact we should have one defensive midfielder.
I was very impressed by Benson Mhlongo; I think he did well defensively for us. It is good that Steven Pienaar also came in and he should start on Wednesday to complement Teko (Modise),” said Ace.
“All in all, all is not lost and I still believe we can qualify for the next round,” added the current Kaizer Chiefs U-19 coach.
