The Tembisa born stylish midfielder who has won the hearts of Amakhosi faithful with his trickery was speaking to kaizerchiefs.com at Nelson Mandela Square on Wednesday, 12 May 2010.
The Club Sponsor, Vodacom who are also Bafana Bafana sponsors was launching a 10-week SMS campaign across South Africa to unite the nation as the voice behind Bafana Bafana.
“We have one thing that all other teams do not have, home ground advantage. I believe that is going to count a lot during the World Cup. It is very important that we rally behind the team as the guys are carrying our hopes as the nation. I have no doubt that Bafana Bafana will do the country proud come June/July,” said Yende who was accompanied by teammate Mandla Masango, Brand Manager Dara Carroll including Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung.
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker, Mark Williams who together with five members from the Class of Bafana Bafana 1996 said the Vodacom initiative is invaluable in boosting the player morale.
“There is nothing more inspirational for the team’s players than knowing that the support of the entire nation is united behind them,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mthokozisi Yende speaking to the latest May issue of Amakhosi magazine expressed his desire to join his friend, Tshepo Masilela in the national team one day.
“It is every South African's dream to play for Bafana Bafana,” said Yende.
