South Africa coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has given his Bafana Bafana players and backroom staff the day off on Sunday -- a day after they defeated Denmark 1-0 during their final warm up match ahead of the Fifa World Cup.
Parreira said, after the hard fought victory over Denmark, that the result and the performance of Bafana Bafana against the Danes proves they are ready for the World Cup.
Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane, who played in the previous friendly games for South Africa against Thailand, Bulgaria and Colombia and was on the scoresheet during South Africa's record 5-0 victory over Guatemala on June 1, played his fifth consecutive game for the national team. So did Reilwe's 'Amakhosi' midfield partner Siphiwe Tshabalala. Having the day off on Sunday will allow them to get some much needed down time.
Bafana's victory over Denmark was all the more sweet for Letsholonyane as he was voted man of the match. It was the second time in his international career that he has received such an award when turning out for the national team. In November last year he was also voted as Bafana's man of the match when they drew with Jamaica during a friendly international game in Bloemfontein.
