Ngcobo had been a regular Bafana Bafana squad member since Pitso Mosimane assumed the reigns as national team coach in August last year, he has told kaizerchiefs.com that he was not completely surprised that he did not make the cut to be amongst the team to face Kenya.
As he explained saying, “being dropped does not scare me the coaches decision was based on the fact that I was not playing regularly for Chiefs, and my performances were not up to standard it was on based on my form and I accept it.”
Ngcobo feels that scoring a brace against Golden Arrows in a league game for Chiefs recently is a move towards him getting a recall, and his aim is to be in the squad that will face defending African champions Egypt in a CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game next month.
“I am aware that for me to get back into the national team I need continue playing as I have in my last couple of games, scoring goals setting up goals and just being a good contributor. I feel that I have taken some steps in that direction and if I continue to improve I believe that will increase my chances of playing against Egypt.”
On the domestic front Ngcobo has congratulated strike partner Knowledge Musona who collected his second player of the month award for the season when he was named the Absa Premiership’s player of the month for December 2010.
“I am very happy for Knowledge he has done well for the team, he is overcoming injury at the moment and we look forward to welcoming him back, hopefully we can support him in getting more goals” concluded Ngcobo.
