Bafana vs England ticket sales off to a flying start

Ticket sales for the South Africa 2010 Bid match between Bafana Bafana and England opened on Monday and a total of 5192 tickets had been sold by the end of the day, representing one of the best first day sales' returns for a major sporting event in South Africa, according to a report on the SA 2010 Bid site.

"This is one of our big ones," said Computicket spokesman Alfie Reed after a hectic day of sales for the match in Durban on May 22.

Ticket sales are being handled nationwide by Computicket with tickets priced at R50, R100 and R300 for suites.

There was also a demand by corporate companies for seats to reserved for them as they sought to treat their workers to an evening at the football at King's Park stadium.

Tickets sales are expected to remain brisk through the week and event organisers were predicting the 'house full' sign could up by the end of the week.

The organisers said there was little doubt the match would be a sell out, particularly after news on Monday that England were bringing a full-strength squad for the international.

The match in Durban will mark the international launch of the South Africa 2010 bid campaign.
