The former Bafana Bafana captain will be used in an advertisement to be aired at all fan parks during the 16-team tournament, footage from Bartlett’s time with Swiss club FC Zurich will be used in the advertisement, which will be one of two advertisements flighted for Swiss Railway SBB during the event. In addition to the fan parks there will also be an out door and an Internet campaign, which also show the commercial.
Penalty
The first of the two advertisements to be shown at the fan parks will be titled 'Happy to be Eliminated', which will show players who have just been eliminated happy to be knocked out, as Switzerland has a lot to offer for tourists and they happier to be able to travel around on Swiss Rail.
Bartlett’s commercial, titled 'Penalty' has him taking a penalty and then celebrating thereafter as, in keeping with the previous theme, he is glad to be able to get out and see Switzerland.
Legacy
Bartlett, who recently made his 50th appearance in all competition for Chiefs when he started The Amakhosi’s ABSA Premiership match against Arrows on the 30th April, was happy that a decade after playing in the Swiss League, he is still remembered there.
“I left ten years ago and it is pleasing to know that I am still kept in a high regard there. They have chosen player footage of my time there was selected which I find very humbling. Its nice to know that long after you have left a place your contributions to the game are still appreciated, I suppose this is the only way I could get to play at Euro 2008”.
