Head Coach, Stuart Baxter was the happier of the two coaches as the referee, Lwandile Mfiki, blew the final whistle to signal the end of the game as the hosts registered a 2-0 win against visitors, Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership fixture.
Chiefs had not beaten Maritzburg United in the past four games, with two games last season producing a draw.
The Glamour Boys started the game like a house on fire with Knowledge Musona grabbing his first goal of the season and substitute, George Lebese, doing likewise; both goals scored in the second half.
The win moved Chiefs to fifth position in the Absa Premiership log, three points behind leaders, SuperSport United.
A delighted Stuart Baxter said to kaizerchiefs.com after the game; "I thought we started the game well and played with high intensity.
We played good football in the first 30-35 minutes of the game. I think the players did very well.
We then moved our foot off the paddle a little bit after the goal allowing Maritzburg to come at us.
We continued playing good football in the second half with George Lebese getting a second goal.
I thought we did well overall and playing at home, it was important to bounce back."
Baxter was pleased to see Musona getting his name onto the scoresheet; "He was looking sharp ahead of this game."
Tsepo Masilela was certainly one of the outstanding players in the evening.
"He has been superb for us. We knew that Tsepo is an outstanding player when we brought him into the squad and has done really well," added Baxter.
