Stuart Baxter showered his players with praise following an emphatic 2-1 victory over SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.

On song, Lehlohonolo ‘Waga-Waga’ Majoro claimed a brace as the Glamour Boys ensured a perfect revenge to the side that condemned Amakhosi to a historic fourth defeat in a row last season.

There was no repeat of what happened previously on Saturday as Chiefs maintained the four point lead at the top of the table.

“I thought we did not do well in the first half where we played in an absolute storm. I was disappointed with the performance despite the goal.

In the second half we came back and did very well and I was pleased with the commitment from the players. We changed a few things and I think in the second half the players did a fantastic job. The margin should have been bigger. I am pleased with the win away.

There was one point difference between The Glamour Boys and Orlando Pirates before the start of the game but that did little to distract the Naturena based side as Baxter commented; “We are on top of the log. It is easier to be a hunter than a hunted and everyone has got to live with that. We have to remain focused and take it one game at a time.

“The victory against SuperSport United was very important for the team. We also made it two in a row following our win against Golden Arrows at the same ground last Tuesday. It is still early days to think about the Championship.

Baxter also praised his players and singled out striker Lehlohonolo Mojoro; “I am impressed how the players have applied themselves at training. The likes of Bernard Parker, George Lebese, Masha (Tefu Mashamaite) just to mention a few, they are working very hard at training

Lately ‘Major’ has done incredibly well. He has worked very hard in the past couple of weeks. I remember when the season started I told him that Parker (Bernard) and Kingston (Nkhatha) were doing a fantastic job and he just needed to work. He was a bit worried about his place in the team. I am happy that he rose to the challenge and has now been delivering goods for the team,”
