Stuart Baxter revealed on Wednesday morning that he has been impressed by the work that left back Tsepo Masilela has put in training since returning from his appendectomy late in September.
The highly rated left back who played for Getafe in La Liga last season has found it hard to break into the team as Jimmy Jambo (before getting injured) was doing well in the left back position and now Keegan Ritchie has been doing well in Jambo’s absence.
Tsepo was given a run against Bloemfontein Celtic in the Macufe Cup and impressed with his runs and accurate crossing.
Baxter commented speaking to kaizerchiefs.com about Masilela; “Tsepo has been an absolute professional in the team and I am impressed by his attitude in training. I spoke to him and explained to him that we will work with him to manage the process of integrating him into the team setup.
“We will have to look at giving him a few minutes here and there in the next couple of games depending on our strategy. It is unfortunate that we do not have the luxury of a Reserve League where we would assess his readiness.
Baxter has also been impressed with Keegan Ritchie who won the ‘Man of the Match’ award against Maritzburg United; “I am certainly pleased with Keegan and I spoke to Tsepo about it. Keegan is familiar with our style.
The Coach poured water on suggestions that the Club should buy a defender in January; “I am pleased with the depth we have in the squad. I feel that we have enough on our arsenal to cope with the demands of the modern game. We might look at promoting a youngster from the development as compared to going to the market.”
