Coach Stuart Baxter welcomed the Amakhosi’s new signee, Ivan Bukenya, following the player penning a two-year deal with the Club on Monday, 30 September 2013.
Speaking after taking his charges through their paces this morning, Baxter was upbeat as he described the Ugandan as one of the future.
“This is part of the process of refreshing the team. Ivan is tall and very strong plus he has age on his side. We are strong at the back and we looked at him as one for the future and also giving us options tactically. He understands his role in the team as we have described it to him. He is willing to adapt and to take it one step at the time. I am excited to have him as part of the squad.
"I will not rush him until we are satisfied that he has adapted to our system as well as the culture in and around the Club. As I said before he arrived I heard good things about him and had an opportunity to look at him in the past month to analyse him and I am satisfied with what I have seen so far,” said Baxter.
Ivan will have a chance to taste competitive action when Chiefs play against Celtics in the Macufe Cup friendly on Sunday, 13 October 2013 in Bloemfontein, during the FIFA week.
