By the way we are descending as defending champions after a three year sabbatical before the past season’s victory; a reputation that brings pride and joy to the many respectable Amakhosi Supporters that have shared our forty years of success.
Whilst this invites celebration, we however remain perturbed by the other hoodlum identity we may carry following our recent conviction of stadium violence in the MTN 8 semi finals against Orlando Pirates recently. Yes, you may have read about this before, but it would be a travesty of justice if we don’t over elaborate on its negativity and its debilitating consequences. I cannot be silent until some sense of sanity is implanted or at least some supporters join the chorus to condemn such retrogressive acts of lunacy.
With our numbers often dominant in the stadium, one wonders if such are seen as peace loving or a posse of destructive mercenaries that will jump at any opportunity to throw a tantrum when odds seem stuck against their favourite team.
I am worried my fellow Khosi4 Life when instead of using our numbers in the stands to encourage our lads and power them to victory, we turn the same numbers to inflict pain into our very soul. We should be worried when each season we face the wrath of the PSL Disciplinary Committee, something that has emerged familiar in recent times.
This weekend we shall be in Bloemfontein against an exciting Bloemfontein Celtic whose supporters will definitely turnout in numbers to add another spectacle of excitement on the stands. The singing and the waving of hands throughout the match proceedings are their trademark gestures that clearly demonstrate their closeness not only to the team, but to everything that makes the entire family.
By the way, these may not equal the number of Amakhosi supporters in any game, but the fact that they remain committed to the cause of making their team win against all odds, makes them a cut above the rest. These are the same supporters that don’t boo their players but rally behind any decision made by the technical desk.
Yes, you may have read this before, but allow me to question if our numbers shall be in Bloemfontein to yet again gain a reputation as the proverbial bad-boys of football South Africa? Should we be received with fear of spectator lunacy rather than a team whose championship reputation that instilled fear on the pitch has been compromised by unsavoury escapades on the grand stands? Should we prepare before hand, another session with the Disciplinary Committee of the PSL?
Should we wear protective armour or hire some tactical SWAT Squad?
C’mon Amkhosi4 Life, we can do better than this! I believe we can redeem ourselves by raising our signs of LOVE and PEACE in a show of respect to our selves, our team, our company and family.
I believe we can start all over to restore our collective responsibility of helping our team win at ALL TIMES! I believe we can bring the exciting glamorous era that made us into a successful brand.
I therefore call for a chorus that shouts NO TO STADIUM HOOLIGANISM! MACUFE here we come!
