The lanky Capetonian joins Amakhosi from Ajax Cape Town. Booysen has also been on the books of SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns, Maritzburg United and Bloemfontein Celtic.
The 30-year-old is a versatile footballer, who can play both as a centre-back and a defensive midfielder.
Booysen appeared last season in 27 league matches for Ajax Cape Town. He has in total participated in more than 180 Absa Premiership games and therefore arrives at Kaizer Chiefs with an abundance of experience.
“If you set yourself goals,” a clearly excited Booysen comments, “you aim for the best and Chiefs are just that. It’s been a lifelong aspiration to play for this club as I have always felt that Kaizer Chiefs are far ahead of all other South African clubs. They are true leaders, all others follow.”
Booysen also made a promise to our supporters: “I promise them that when I put my foot on the field, I will always do my utmost best to put a smile on their faces.”
The defender has won five trophies so far during his career – the Telkom Knockout once (with Ajax Cape Town) and the Nedbank Cup four times (SuperSport United thrice, Mamelodi Sundowns once).
“Everybody can expect me to give 100% commitment to Amakhosi,” he concludes, “the club offers me a fresh challenge and I want to add value. I am definitely looking at winning trophies, making the club and supporters proud. I want to make a real contribution to the legacy of this great club.”
We warmly welcome Booysen to the Chiefs Family and look forward to a big season together.
