Brima Logistics is proud to be the very first sponsor of the Kaizer Chiefs Ladies team as Amakhosi ventures into women’s football.
Founded in 2005 by entrepreneur Tshepo Brian Mekoa, who left his corporate job to pursue his dream of establishing Brima Logistics, which began with just one truck affectionately called “The Old Lady.” Today, the company has grown into a national operation with 10 branches across all nine provinces and a workforce of more than 180 employees. An 11th branch is set to launch at the beginning of April.
The name Brima is a combination of Tshepo Brian Mekoa, the Executive Chairman, and his wife Matsietsi Mekoa, the Managing Director. Together, they have built one of South Africa’s leading logistics companies.
“We are very happy to be the first sponsor of the Kaizer Chiefs Ladies team and proud to be associated with this colossal brand, which was also started by a young man back in 1970, Kaizer Motaung,” said Executive Chairman, Tshepo Mekoa.
“We have worked hard to build a strong company that the people of Daveyton, where I’m from, can be proud of. Partnering with Amakhosi allows us to continue writing our beautiful story.”
Brima will serve as the sleeve sponsor for the Kaizer Chiefs Ladies team, with all player jerseys bearing the company’s name and logo.
Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director, Jessica Motaung welcomed Brima to the Amakhosi family: “We are truly enthused by the story of Tshepo and Matsietsi Mekoa, who have worked tirelessly to build one of the biggest logistics companies in the country. Their leap of faith into women’s football is inspirational, and we hope other corporates will follow their example to help grow the women’s game in South Africa and across the continent.”
“We are also happy that the launch of this important project took place in the heart of Daveyton at Brima Café, where the classy establishment employs a number of young people who are in the hospitality industry,” she added.
This multi-year partnership will see Brima Logistics fully support the Kaizer Chiefs Ladies team. Managing Director, Matsietsi Mekoa emphasised the importance of giving back: “We know many of these players come from underprivileged backgrounds and we are here to provide hope and support. We are proud to be part of this historic moment and to be standing alongside South Africa’s biggest football Club.”
The Kaizer Chiefs Ladies squad, made up of 24 players, coached by CAF A coaching licence-holder, Unathi Mabena, will play matches at KwaThema stadium and the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena.
