Kaizer Chiefs will spend this year’s Day of Reconciliation in Nelspruit as they take on TS Galaxy in a Betway Premiership clash at the Mbombela Stadium this afternoon.
Amakhosi are hunting for three important points after dropping the ball against Polokwane City last weekend in Limpopo. Galaxy, on the other hand, will want to continue their momentum after winning their previous encounter against AmaZulu at the same venue.
Chiefs remain 9th on the log with 11 points after eight matches. Galaxy have played nine games and picked as many points. They lie 13th in the Betway Premiership standings.
Coach Nabi has been forced to make three changes this afternoon, due to an assortment of injuries suffered by some of the players.
Goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma is back in goal for the first time this season following Brandon Petersen’s injury last week. Also, the team will be happy to have Reeve Frosler back from his two-match suspension. He comes on for the injured Gaston Sirino. Chiefs’ third change will see Bradley Cross replaced by Thatayaone Ditlhokwe at left-back..
Coach Nabi will keep to a 4-4-2 formation.
Bvuma starts as the goalie.
Ditlhokwe will play on the left of defence, Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel will be at centre-back while Frosler will be on the right.
Sibongiseni Mthethwa has cemented his position as the team’s holding midfielder. He will have Yusuf Maart and Njabulo Blom just in front of him. Mduduzi Shabalala will play behind the strikers.
Wandile Duba and Ashley Du Preez are joint strikers.
Maart gets the skipper’s armband.
The referee for this afternoon is Masixole Bambiso. He will be assisted by Khamusi Razwimisani and Kgara Mokoena. The fourth official is Moreki Lekwape.
The Betway Premiership match between Amakhosi and the Rockets will start at 15:30 at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit. The match is live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
