The Kimberly-born defender, who is celebrating his 30th birthday today (Friday), was speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on the team’s arrival at the Club HQ at Chiefs Village in Naturena.
“The camp was a success and from the player’s point of view everything worked according to plan. We worked very hard and we still coming back to training this afternoon,” said Jimmy Tau, sporting a new haircut courtesy of teammate, Punch Masenamela.
“What is important for us now is to build on what we have done in Pretoria. The spirit in the camp is very high and we believe that we can do better than we did last season,” added Tau.
Teammate Chippa Nhleko, who was sitting next to Tau, concurred on the success of the camp while wishing the captain a happy 30th birthday.
“We really worked hard in Pretoria and it helped that we were given individual programmes to work on during the holiday. When I reported I was still in good shape but now I am super fit.
I would like to welcome Jimmy to the Class of 30. I wish him all the best in all his endeavors,” added Chippa with a smile.
Asked how he was going to celebrate his birthday, Jimmy said he was looking forward to coming back to the Village for the second session of the day. “I am not even thinking about that…we have a session later today,” he said with a smile.
The team will return at the Village for the afternoon training session before taking a weekend off.
