“The preparations have gone very well,” Siboniso ‘Pa’ Gaxa reacted after Kaizer Chiefs’ pre-match session on Saturday.

Amakhosi host Platinum Stars this afternoon at the Cape Town Stadium in an Absa Premiership fixture. “Cape Town no longer feels like home, it is now our home,” the Chiefs defender added.

The Soweto giants have claimed 14 points from their last seven home matches.

“We want to continue with this momentum,” reflected Gaxa about last week’s win over Bloemfontein Celtic. “The last time we played in Cape Town, we had tremendous support. We know the fans will repeat that, so must we respond with a win."

Chiefs go into this game positioned fourth on the Absa Premiership log with 25 points from 14 matches.

“We have to collect the three points, while at the same time try not to concede,” Gaxa commented. “Stars are a good side, but they visit us at a time when we can’t afford to drop points.” Dikwena are placed sixth with 20 points from 13 matches.

In head-to-head stats, the two sides have met in 24 league matches since 2003/04 with Amakhosi winning ten against Dikwena’s four.

Meanwhile, Chiefs’ medical team confirmed that Bernard Parker remains on the sideline with a knee injury. He has travelled with the team though. Itumeleng Khune and George Lebese are also in Cape Town with the technical team monitoring their recovery closely in case they are ready to play.

Tickets are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers for R60. The game will take place on Sunday afternoon, 24 January. Kick-off is at 15:30.
