“Cape Town has a special place in our heart,” says Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Jessica Motaung. “We have a huge supporter base in the Western Cape. We are excited to be here with the team in the Cape of Love & Peace.”

Amakhosi face Absa Premiership log leaders Bidvest Wits in a game home away from home at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, 19 December (kick-off is at 18:00).

“This festive season,” adds Motaung. “We invite our supporters and other soccer lovers to come to the match in numbers to enjoy the Kaizer Chiefs experience.”

Amakhosi will play three of their Absa Premiership home matches in Cape Town this season. “Chiefs are a team of the nation, having a big following countrywide,” the Marketing Director continues, “that’s why we are bringing the game to our loyal supporters.”

“We have played for the past four seasons some of our home games in Polokwane and, before that in Durban. This season we have opted to come to the Mother City and look forward to a long-time relationship.”

The week has been abuzz with activities, including the Kaizer Chiefs Vodacom Roadshow in Gugulethu on Thursday and another today in Khayelitsha. This morning there was a soccer clinic in Cape Town with several players and some members of the technical team.

“We are reaching out to the community in the Western Cape,” concludes Motaung. “It’s great to see how the response is and how we are embraced by the people of the Cape of Love & Peace.”
