Executive Chairman, Kaizer Motaung has backed Minister Fikile Mbalula’s call for the revival of school sports programme.

Airing his views in his weekly column on kaizerchiefs.com, Motaung described the revival of school sports, “an overdue and necessary obligation that may not be delayed any further. Looking into our history of football, schools provided a natural resource for its development by exposing talent of youngsters that participated in every Wednesday afternoon’s sporting events.”

“It is therefore commendable for the Minister to challenge a rethinking into igniting school sports now that the curriculum demands an integration of sporting theory with its practical application thereof.”

The challenge now rests with the supporting government institutions, diverse Corporate and Civil Society networks to create such an environment that balances academic and aesthetic progress of identified and potential national sporting heroes,” said Motaung who himself played for Orlando High in the '60s.
