Minister of Sports and Recreation, Mr Fikile Mbalula announced Kaizer Chiefs Executive Chairman Mr Kaizer Motaung as the deserved recipient of the 2013 Steve Tshwete Lifetime Achievement Award at an auspicious function held at Sun City.
The event was televised life on SS4 and SABC 1.
Mr Kaizer Motaung fitted the category like a hand in glove, as the award may be considered to be awarded to persons that have, over a period of 30 years or longer dedicated his or her life to make a difference in South African Sport and been involved in any facet of sport, either as an athlete, an administrator, a manager or a coach.
Among many leadership positions he holds in football, Motaung is a member of the PSL Executive Committee and chairs the League’s Finance Committee. He is among the founding members of the PSL who pioneered a new revolution that took South African football to another level.
Motaung was recently honoured by President Zuma with the Order of Ikhamanga which recognises South African citizens who have excelled in the fields of arts, culture, music, journalism and sport.
The prize-money for Steve Tshwete Lifetime Achiever is R100 000.00 but only R50 000.00 will be paid to the recipient. The other R50 000.00 to be donated to the charity of the recipients’ choice.
