Stuart Baxter was in full praise for his players on Tuesday evening following an emphatic win against Soweto rivals, Moroka Swallows at Soccer City Complex in Soweto.
The Glamour Boys who opened the scoring in the seventh minute through, Renielwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane allowed The Dube Birds to come back twice before clinching the hard fought 3-2 win in the stoppage time thanks to a tap in from Lehlohonolo ‘Major’ Majoro.
“It is a good win for us and I have to congratulate the players for a job well done,” said Baxter with a smile speaking to kaizerchiefs.com he added jokingly; “The win though was not good for the hearts of people who were sitting on the bench.”
“I was once again pleased in the way we started the game. We always try to play at high tempo and we created quite a number of chances some I think we should have scored.
“Once again we allowed Moroka Swallows to come back into the game. We were aware of the quality in their side and we knew that when they are on top gear they are capable of beating anyone in the league.
“I was not happy that we allowed them to come back twice. There were some elements of the performance that I will have to address with the team. We needed to keep things a bit tight at the back and we have to sort this out.
He continued; “We changed things around in the second half introducing Siyabonga (Nkosi) to play just behind the strikers and then we threw in Kingston (Nkhatha). At the end it worked for us.
Chiefs travel to Rustenburg this coming weekend for what promises to be a thrilling battle against the rejuvenated Platinum Stars.
“I am sure the players are sitting there thinking about the upcoming game as an exciting challenge than a problem. We are taking it one game at a time and we will have to approach the game against Stars with the same mentality to win.
“We will be playing in different conditions because of the heat and we might give few players who have not had much game time a run. We might also change tactics a little bit,” added Baxter.
