Newly-crowned DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) champions, Kaizer Chiefs, brought the curtain down on a phenomenal record-breaking season by thrashing AmaZulu 5-0 in their final fixture of the 2024/25 campaign on Sunday.

Manqoba Ozoemana and Njabulo Hlongwane both scored braces, with Siphesihle Tati also finding the net on a day when Amakhosi demonstrated exactly why they the best U23 side in the country with a performance that had ‘champions’ written all over it.

Chiefs won 22 of their 28 matches, losing only twice, and finished with a record 70 points, seven ahead of second-placed Stellenbosch.

The success is a reflection of the superb work being done within the Club’s youth development academy.

A delighted coach Vela Khumalo told www.kaizerchiefs.com, “This our first DDC title in 10 years, and we just had to make sure we are counted in the past decade.

“It’s a good feeling. It is what we planned for from the beginning of the season, and we are happy, mainly for the Chairman, but also the whole staff and our supporters. Credit must go to the technical team and the boys for the effort they have put in. It was a hectic year but we made it and we broke records. So, congratulations to the Khosi family, everybody at the Village who work to bring success to this Club.”

In the SAFA Gauteng Development League (GDL), Kaizer Chiefs’ junior teams enjoyed a successful outing to the Elspark Sports Ground on Workers’ Day last Thursday, winning all four matches against their hosts, Elspark.

Then, on Sunday, they travelled to Balfour Park to face Highlands Park, where the U14s continued their impressive form with a 4-0 triumph. The U15s did likewise, outclassing their counterparts by 5-0.
