Twenty Kaizer Chiefs supporters branches from Limpopo and five from Gauteng attended an imbizo in Nzhelele in the Vhembe District last weekend. “It was truly a celebration of our supporters,” reflected Limpopo Province’s chairman Nathi Modiba about the meeting.
Chiefs’ Supporters Relationship Manager Tracy Williams noted in her address on the importance of supporters embracing change: “Only through change can one attain growth and transformation.”
While speaking about Amakhosi’s first squad, she urged the supporters to allow the new coach and players time to settle in and to bond as a team. “Likewise, all branches and supporters must bond as well,” Williams explained. “We are one big family and we have to support each other in good and bad times.”
The new structures of Amakhosi’s supporters club are created to facilitate better communication. Williams urged the supporters “to actively seek information about the Club on the website, Facebook, Twitter and in the Amakhosi Magazine, which is Chiefs’ official monthly magazine.”
The Supporters Relationship Manager furthermore explained that a newsletter is sent out weekly by e-mail. The newsletter is full of news flashes and is aimed at keeping the branches up to date on what is happening at the Club.
Williams also updated the supporters on the rejuvenated Amakhosi supporters club. “We are not yet ready to launch,” she told the audience, before adding that “there is still a long way to go, so please bear with us and don’t put pressure on the Club, as the new supporters club will only be launched when we are all happy with the final product and the distribution plan.”
She advised that there are some exciting developments for branches in line with the development of a new branch approach, including a new constitution and even new flags.
“Change is a process that takes time,” Williams stressed, “branches need to use this time to grow their supporters base exponentially so that when we are ready to launch, we are all ready for the challenges ahead.”
