Charged up for Arrows - Parker

A charged up Bernard Parker expressed delight to return to the starting line-up with a win. The striker opened the scoring with a well-taken header when Amakhosi brought down Polokwane City (3-2) on Sunday.

Parker was on a buoyant mood before Chiefs’ departure to Durban, where they will be facing Golden Arrows on Wednesday night.

“It was a good feeling to start against City,” comments Parker about earning a starting berth against Polokwane City. It was his second league start of the season, with his first being the opening match against Bidvest Wits back in August “I've been waiting patiently for this moment. I am a 24-hours professional and when the opportunity came to start, I was ready.”

Chiefs and Arrows square up at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday, 21 December (18:00).

“I was happy with my performance on Sunday,” remarks Parker, who got the Man of the Match award for a great performance. “I just have to continue working hard. I can only grow in confidence from now onwards.”

“I am happy we are back to winning ways,” reflects the striker on Chiefs’ winless streak of seven league games. “It felt so great to see the team turn the corner on Sunday. We were so excited with those three points and we want to follow that up with more good performances.”

“We are ready for Arrows,” Parker vows. “It is going to be an interesting match. Arrows are enjoying a great start to the season and we are well aware of that.”

Chiefs collected maximum points against Arrows in their last campaign. It was a matter of 2-0 at home and 3-1 away that separated the Glamour Boys from Abafana Bes’Thende.

“We want to give our supporters a good Christmas present (with a win),” Parker concludes. “Durban is like our backyard (in terms of the support). When we are in the right space and frame of mind no one can stop us.”

Chiefs go into this encounter positioned 4th with 21 points in the bag while their hosts, Arrows, are 6th with 20 points. Both teams have played 14 matches.

Ramahlwe ‘Rama’ Mphahlele, who had to be replaced during the Polokwane City game due to an injury, participated fully in Tuesday’s pre-match drills and will be available for selection.
