‘Chief’ as Cecil is affectionately known in football circles was speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Monday morning.
“The branches in Durban have been holding meetings this weekend in preparation of the massive game against AmaZulu on Saturday. There is a strong belief not only from the team but from our supporters that we can win the league this coming Saturday,” said Motaung.
The Glamour Boys are currently lying on 3rd position with 56 points, 3 points behind leaders, Ajax Cape Town and 1 point behind 2nd placed Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership standings.
A win for the Chiefs against AmaZulu on Saturday, 21 May 2011 and a loss for both Ajax Cape Town and Orlando Pirates can hand Chiefs the league title.
“We did it in Bloemfontein a few years ago and I know together we can achieve what looks impossible,”
“I would like to call all our supporters to come through to Moses Mabhida on Saturday and let’s get behind the team. The support in Durban has always been amazing and it would be nice if we can win the league and celebrate with the people in Durban,” said Motaung.
Motaung also revealed a Welcoming is organized at King Shaka to welcome the team when they land in Durban on Friday afternoon, “We have been in touch with our branches in Durban and on Friday we will assemble at King Shaka at 15h15. The players have always appreciated this unique gesture from the supporters,”
“Albert Park Branch has also organized a CSI programme in conjunction with Department of Social Services. The event will be held at Umlazi Place of Safety. After the Welcoming we will proceed to Umlazi to support the initiative,” added Motaung.
