Kaizer Chiefs took a giant step into the second round of the Absa Cup with an overwhelming 5-0 hammering of Vodacom League side FC Sporting at Ellis Park on Saturday night. Relive the action.

90 - Referee Clarence Prince blows the final whistle as Chiefs register their biggest win of the season so far and reserve a place in the Last 16 of the Absa Cup.

85 - Second half substitution Richards all but completes the rout following a defensive blunder by Masuku that allowed the former Golden Arrows and Zulu Royals striker a chance to blast the ball past a hapless Letlapa low into the far post. 5-0

84 - Niemach completes his hat-trick with a thunderous right footer following a great corner from Fredericks. 4-0

80 - Chiefs make their final change with Richards on for Zwane. Three minutes later Sporting bring Msume on for Achinike in their last throw of a dice.

76 - Mooki comes on for Permall. While Sporting bring Musa Thabethe on for Chongo.

75 - Niemach powers Chiefs further ahead with a poweful volley from outside the box as the Sporting defence is caught wanting. 3-0

72 - Zwane plays the ball through to Fredericks whose shot is diverted for a corner. No danger for Sporting from the spot kick. A minute later Zwane lays the ball through to Fredericks who leaves it for Nengomasha but his pile drive goes just wide.

70 - Chiefs pull off defender Thobejane with McCarthy coming on in their first change.

66 - A dangerous cross from Permall on the right into the box but Sporting defence does well to clear.

56 - Sporting make their first change with Likotsi coming on for Mashego.

55 - The second yellow card for Sporting to Mashego.

52 - A short corner between Fredericks and Zwane with Fredericks delivering a high ball for Niemach to head home the second goal of the match and his first goal for Chiefs this season. 2-0

50 - The first yellow card of the match to Seboza for a foul on Fredercisks.

46 - Second half gets underway with no changes on either side.

45 - End of the first half but the score in not exactly what most supporters would have expected. Some will be tempted to blame a few individuals for missed opportunities but the Chiefs goal had never been exposed to any threat with Rowen Fernandez virtually a spectator throughout the entire half.

45 - Only two minutes of stoppages to be added and Sporting win a free-kick just outside the box a minute later. Nhlanhla locates the target but Fernandez - pushing the ball over for a corner - is equal to the task with his only save of the first half.

41 - Nzama plays the ball through to Permall who in turn delivers a fine cross to Niemach but the former Moroka Swallows striker fires just wide when scoring appeared an easy option and the supporters get on his back as they demand a substitution.

34 - Sporting threaten the Chiefs goal with Achinike firing just above goal following some indecisive defending that allowed Nhlanhla to get the ball into the box.

27 - Permall from the right plays the ball into the box, targeted for Niemach, who does well to turn under pressure from the Sporting defence but his shot flies way above goal.

25 - Zwane collects a long cross from Buti Sithole, brings the ball down in the box but is unable to put it past the Sporting keeper who seems to gain more confidence with each save.

22 - Chiefs on the attack with Permall playing the ball through to Fredericks whose fine half volley is well saved by Sporting keeper Letlapa.

20 - Sporting try to make their way into the Chiefs goals with Achinike battling for possession against Nzama towards the near corner but experience wins the day as Nzama easily clears with a little help from Mabedi.

17 - Sporting keeper throws his body on the line to concede a corner and deny Fredericks who was played through by Permall.

12 - Sporting free-kick by Masuku goes aimlessly wide.

9 - Chiefs switch play from the left into the right with Zwane delivering a cross into the box but Niemach's weak header is well captured by Sporting keeper Letlapa.

6 - A cleaver free-kick by Fredericks from the left is diverted into the net by Nzama to put Chiefs in the lead. 1-0

4 - Sporting concede a corner with Zwane taking another shot at goal following a fine pass from Nzama. The visitors manage to clear danger from the resultant corner.

1 - Sporting got the match underway but quickly lost possession, as Chiefs appeared to set up camp in the visitors' half. Zwane misses a clear chance a minute later following a great delivery from Fredericks on the left. With goals in his sight and not much pressure from Sporting defence, Zwane fires harmlessly above goals.
