“The Amakhosi is mobilised to participate in the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children,” says Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung about this international campaign that started on 25 November and will run until 10 December 2014.
“The Club was founded on the principles of Love and Peace,” she adds. “Kaizer Chiefs have always raised awareness of the negative impact that violence has on our society. We support the campaign and we would like to see the world walking the talk as a process and not just as a sixteen day event.”
This year’s campaign is held under the theme “Count Me In. Together moving a non-violent South Africa forward”.
“During these 16 days we have and we will be creating awareness via our media by writing and speaking out against this scourge to heighten the sense of urgency about sexual violence in our communities.”
Motaung stressed. “As a football club, we work with men and boys who believe in gender equality. Our players have issued statements calling for an end to gender-based violence on numerous occassions.”
