Chiefs have played two games at the venue this season, the first a 1-0 win in the Telkom Knockout Semi-final in November was followed up by another 1 – 0 victory over BIDVest Wits in a league game in December.
Recent History
The Amakhosi have had a good run in recent years against Free State the 1 – 0 reverse they suffered at the hands of Stars earlier in the season was just their third loss in 21 league games in the PSL era to Ea Lla Koto.
Over the course of these 21 clashes the Amakhosi winning 13 to Stars 3 victories with 5 other games ending in a draw. Saturday’s clash is the third meeting in all competitions between the sides this season, apart from the earlier league clash Chiefs managed to defeat Stars 2 – 0 when the teams clashed at the Quarter Final stage of the Telkom Knockout Cup.
The 2008 – 2009 season remains the only of the five PSL seasons when Chiefs and Stars have met that the Amakhosi were unable to record at least one win in league action over Stars.
Recent Form
Chiefs have lost just one of their last thirteen league games, that said the Amakhosi have drawn their last three league games but will be favouring themselves to break that and pick up three points against Stars. Chiefs last league outing was a 0-0 draw with Vasco Da Gama in Cape Town on Tuesday evening while Stars played out a 1-1 draw at home against Amazulu, Stars have won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five league games.
Missing Out
Chiefs will be without striker Kaizer Motaung JR. for the game against Stars he remains in Johannesburg as a result of picking up his third yellow card during the Vasco game and sits out the game through suspension.
Returning for Chiefs will be skipper Jimmy Tau who is once available for selection after missing the Vasco game through suspension, Chiefs are also hopeful that winger Siphiwe Tshabalala who was injured for the midweek came will be fit enough to face his former team on Saturday evening.
