Premier Soccer League giants Kaizer Chiefs and coach Muhsin Ertugral have "amicably parted ways" on Tuesday after a three-year relationship that saw the Turk bring a degree of success to Naturena until recently.

Breaking the news, Chiefs managing director Kaizer Motaung said, "it was an emotional parting" after Ertugral refused an offer as Amakhosi technical director.

"After our meeting with the coach since this morning we reached an amicable parting of ways," said the chairman.

"He had indicated that he wanted to continue coaching but there was no more room for that at present. Muhsin has been talking to Santos for some time and we have given him the green light to go ahead with negotiations."

About the coaching position at the club, the chairman said: "Doctor (Khumalo) and Ace (Khuse) will continue as caretaker coaches until the end of the season. We are very happy with their progress and will continue to support them."

Khumalo and Khuse took the club to an unbeaten six match run (three wins and three draws) in the league and came close to retaining the Coca-Cola Cup title, they lost amid controversial refereeing decisions.

Ertugral, a technical director for the German Football Federation, joined Chiefs in 1999, and won almost every cup on offer in the domestic front but failed to annex the league championship.

The temperamental Ertugral was ordered by management to take time off on November 13 following a spate of poor results coupled with pressure from the supporters and the media.

Ertugral is expected to take over as coach for defending league and BP Top Eight champions Santos who are currently 11th on the 16-team log.
