Elsa believes that the team has a long way to go before they are 100% fit for the upcoming 2008/9 season.
“I was the first to work with the team when we opened on the 9th June and all I had to do was to work them hard on the gym. I divided the team into two groups. It was important for me to see each player’s weakness and strength, because at this level you need to be strong as an opposite will lead to injuries.
"Players need to do right training, correct training at a right time. You cannot have everybody just coming and doing the same thing. Training has to be specific, adhere to player’s individual body requirements. Different types of training are like a big puzzle if one aspect of training is missing then the puzzle is not finished," she said.
The team showed high level of fitness in what was their first competitive game on Saturday but Elsa says they have a long way to go, “They are very far from where we want them to be. Yes, every player is different and we cannot have everyone under the same umbrella. I will now be focusing on individuals, look at their diet, lifestyle, training and so on.”
Elsa Storm, who has years of experience in physical training tells kaizerchiefs.com that as much as the team performed at a much high level than they had expected in the game against Manchester United - there needs to be lot of work to be done in particular to the group that joined the camp late due to international commitments.
Itumeleng Khune, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Gerald Sibeko, Mokete Tsotetsi, Tinashe Nengomashe, Onismor Bhasera, Valery Nahayo were all busy during the moth of June representing their respective countries in the 2010 World Cup/Nations Cup qualifying games.
Elsa who has a year working with the team says she is happy with the players response and is having fun working with the players, “Others want to come for extra training and at times I have to stop them” she said with a smile.
