Kaizer Chiefs got back to winning ways in the Absa Premiership, coming from a goal down to beat the University of Pretoria 2-1 at Tuks Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Goals from Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Willard Katsande cancelled out an early strike from Vuyisile Ntombayithethi as the Glamour Boys registered their first win in the league since February,

Victory moves Chiefs up to third on the log standings, AmaTuks remain in 14th place - level on points with Jomo Cosmos.

Siphiwe Tshabalala forced Tristyn Coetsee into a save with 10 seconds on the clock. A nervy clearance landing at the winger's feet, but his resulting shot was straight at the AmaTuks shot stopper.

Having survived the early scare, AmaTuks took the lead on five minutes. Atusaye Nyondo's heavy touch played to Ntombayithethi's advantage with the midfielder unleashing a trademark shot past Itumeleng Khune from the edge of the area.

Lennox Bacela has been somewhat rejuvenated in the past couple of weeks, but should've doubled the hosts lead on 20 minutes. Nyondo burst into the area before squaring to Bacela - the former Orlando Pirates forward, though, failed to get a touch on the ball with the goal at his mercy.

The Amakhosi dominated both possession and territory for the remainder of the half, but failed to capitalise on their chances.

Bernard Parker should have done better with his turn and shot on 29 minutes before George Lebese was unlucky to see his moment of magic end with the ball flying inches over the crossbar, eight minutes later.

Chiefs continued to squander chances after the break with Lebese firing over from close range 10 minutes into the half.

Steve Komphela introduced Letsholonyane after the interval and after he missed a one-on-one chance the veteran midfielder struck home the equaliser with 72 minutes on the clock.

The visitors continued to press forward in search of all three points and scored the winner with five minutes of regulation time remaining. Katsande, who has developed a knack of scoring crucial goals for the club this season, heading home at the back post.

Having watched Maritzburg United narrow the gap at the bottom to a single point with victory on Tuesday, defeat from a winning position is a bitter pill for Shaun Bartlett's men to swallow with four games remaining.
