Siphiwe 'Shabba' Tshabalala marked his return to action for the first time this season with a volleyed goal in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge match on Saturday.
Chiefs Reserves beat Ajax Cape Town 1-0 to record their first win in the MDC league after two matches played. It took only 27 minutes for fan favourite ‘Shabba’ to rifle a beauty past Ajax’s goalie, Judy February. The entertaining Asidlali match was played at the Dobsonville Stadium.
It was Tshabalala’s first official game since undergoing a knee surgery during the off-season break.
Reserves side coach Arthur Zwane gave much needed game time to other first team players as well - Daniel Cardoso marshalled the defence alongside youngster Sibongiseni Ngcobo and Keagan Buchanan appeared in his second Asidlali match, dictating terms in the middle of the park. Meanwhile, another youngster, Ryan Moon continued to lead the Amakhosi front row.
Chiefs Reserves will travel to Goble Park Stadium on Sunday, 25 September, to play against Free State Stars. Kick-off is at 12:00.
Chiefs’ line-up: Bvuma; Khopotse, Siphosakhe, Cardoso, Sibongiseni Ngcobo; Meyiwa, Shopane, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Tshabalala; Moon, Buchanan.
