“This is why we do these kinds of things,” enthuses Neo Talane, the Chairman of the Kaizer Chiefs Vosloorus Branch, while watching the smile on the faces of the homeless children at the Vumidzuku Bya-vana haven in Vosloorus. “To see these happy faces is so satisfying.”

The Vosloorus Branch spent their Saturday morning at Vumidzuku Bya-vana, where homeless and local children from the age of four to 18-years-old find a safe place to stay.

The facility is a warm and welcoming home. The Amakhosi supporters brought joy to these young kids by organising a party for approximately 100 children.

The children were given party packs with chips, sweets, chocolate (made by Lindi - one of the Branch members), a toy and a hygiene and stationary pack that consisted of a tooth brush, toothpaste, soap, a face cloth, pens and pencils.

"It is amazing what can be achieved when people stand together," Chiefs Manager of Supporters Structures Tracy Williams reacts. "Today is a good example of the power that exists within our Branches to really impact the lives of fellow South Africans. UBUNTU is alive and well in our Branches. It's such a privilege to be part of this.”

Before the party started the children provided entertainment with a praise singer gum boot and traditional dancing and some songs from the musical Sarafina.

The day did not end there as the next port of call was the Lindokuhle home for disabled children in Katlehong. Here Branch members spent some quality time playing, holding and simply interacting with the children.

"When you see these kids,” concludes Vosloorus Branch Chairman Talane. “We realize how fortunate we are. Chiefs’ slogan is Love and Peace and this is our way to show the kids our love. We must never forget that there are people less fortunate than us. That’s why we spend time with these kids and to give them a few hours of joy.”
