South Africa’s ambassador Vusumuzi Sindane in Ivory Coast was presented yesterday a signed Kaizer Chiefs jersey by captain Siphiwe Tshabalala and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

The Amakhosi squad attended the Human Rights Day celebrations held at the South African embassy in Abidjan. The 21st of March is celebrated in South Africa as a public holiday in honour of human rights and to commemorate the Sharpeville massacre.

The Chiefs delegation to the South African embassy was led by Football Manager Bobby Motaung and Safa’s Head of Delegation, Monde Montshiwa.

After having received the Gold and Black jersey, ambassador Sindane told the Amakhosi squad: “Thank you for this gesture. We also appreciate your visit to our embassy. It’s an honour to receive Kaizer Chiefs, one of our beloved South African football teams.”

“We trust that you feel welcome in Abidjan, as South Africa and Ivory Coast enjoy a sound diplomatic relationship,” the South African ambassador added, before wishing the squad good luck ahead of their second leg CAF Champions League encounter against Asec Mimosas on Sunday. “I am sure that you will do all to try and emulate Orlando Pirates’ performance in the CAF matches last year.”

Human Rights are engraved in the make-up of Kaizer Chiefs, given that Chairman Kaizer Motaung always reminds everybody to treat each other with dignity and respect. A principle the Chairman himself personifies with aplomb.

The Club’s slogan of Love and Peace is aligned with the values of human rights. Hence, we will continue to work with our supporters to achieve the goal of nonviolence in our society.
