Apart from losing the match 6-4, the Kaizer Chiefs ladies scored the most important goal, The Fight against Women Abuse.
Chomee opened the scoring for the home team, while her striking partner Kelly Khumalo came in as a substitute to register her name on the score sheet. Credit must go to Live Presenter, Bonang Matheba who netted a brace from the penalty spot and from a brilliantly taken goal from a Khumalo through pass.
Tshedi Mholo (Malaika) solid in defense
Tshedi held her own against the threats posed by the visitors with help from a much disciplined Winny Modise (Khethiwe of Generations), no nonsense Tina (Musician) and a very composed Erica Elle (5FM).
She however admits that it looks much easier when watching on TV as compared to being on the field yourself, she has got the stiff muscles to prove it. “It was an amazing experience and a good initiative to support as it also gave us as ladies a chance to unite for a good purpose and not only meet at gigs” says Thsedi.
Bonang Matheba (Live Presenter) leading from the front
Two goal hero, Matheba described the evening as “good clean fun with no alcohol” and also says that she feels proud to be part of an initiative that discourages women abuse as she has seen it happen to people closer to her and strongly feels that women should be cherished and loved as they are the very ones who bring life.
The general feeling from the ladies is that the most important goal was to discourage women abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle through sport, as they all had fun and got a chance to catch up with on another.
Final Score: SAIL Soccer Babes (6) – Kaizer Celebrity Ladies Team (4)
Scorers: Chomee (1)
