Since 2008 Kaizer Chiefs has been conducting an ongoing investigation in respect of age cheating in their youth development department.

This led to the withdrawal of their under-15 squad from the Nike competition as a number of individuals in the squad had falsified their records and understated their age.

Ongoing investigations have now revealed that there are irregularities in the under-17 squad which have led to the expulsion of 10 individuals who have either falsified records or refused to assist in the verification of their age.

Bobby Motaung, Football Manager of Kaizer Chiefs, commented on this issue and said, “We are aware that this is a widespread problem amongst a number of clubs.

We have taken action in addressing this and we believe that other clubs must be similarly proactive in order to weed out this problem as it is adversely affecting the progress of football youth development at a national level.”
