“It could have been more,” said coach Arthur Zwane after having watched Kaizer Chiefs Reserves demolish Chippa United Reserves with a 10-0 drubbing. “We are picking up and are progressing in stages. The more we play competitive games the more we will find our rhythm.”
The MultiChoice Disk Challenge (MDC) encounter was played on Saturday at Dobsonville Stadium.
“The score is not a true reflection of the match,” Zwane continued, referring to his team’s dominance over Chippa. “They don’t have a weak side and like playing with the ball. That’s also our strength. I applaud our boys for such a splendid display and resounding victory.”
Given Thibedi and Yaseen Bunting both scored a hattrick. “One player that could have increased the score is Nkosingiphile Ngcobo,” Zwane added. “He got in good spaces and looked dangerous throughout the match.”
“I’m very happy with Bunting, who I am introducing slowly but surely. He is a great finisher. He came on as substitute, but still scored three goals. We will take this victory as encouragement going forward.”
Happy Mashiane, Sizwe Twala, Lebogang Matakanya and Reamohetse Lekoatsa netted the other four goals.
Goalscorers: Thibedi (3), Bunting (3), Mashiane (1), Twala (1), Matakanya (1) and Lekoatsa (1).
Chiefs’ line-up: Petersen (GK), Blom, Moleko, Rorwana, Ngcobo (Lekoatsa), Matakanya, Malope, Moodley, Thibedi, Twala (Bunting 57’), Mashiane (Mirwa 66’)
Subs not used: Tshabalala (GK), Mokoena
