Goals from Knowledge Musona, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Matthew Rusike and Erick Mathoho saw Kaizer Chiefs to an impressive 4-0 win over Liga Muculmana in the first leg of their CAF Champions League match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night.
Chiefs dominated the match from the onset and the result never looked in doubt after Musona gave them the lead in the 14th minute with a close range header after a corner-kick was flicked on by Tefu Mashamaite, 1-0.
Chiefs then doubled their lead eight minutes later when Tshabalala volleyed home a cross from Tshepo Masilela, 2-0.
The visitors offered very little in attack and only had their first shot on goal in the 33rd minute when Eusebio unleashed a thunderbolt form distance, but he saw his effort superbly saved by Reyaad Pieterse who was on in place of Itumeleng Khune.
The Bafana Bafana keeper had injured himself just before the game.
The half ended 2-0 in favour of Chiefs who looked extremely comfortable on the night.
The second half saw the Amakhosi coasting through the match as they took their foot of the pedal, but they confirmed the victory with a goal in the 80th minute.
Rusike grabbed his first goal in a Champions League match when he pounced on a loose ball inside the box and fired it home in clinical fashion, 3-0.
The icing on the cake for Chiefs was Mathoho’s goal in the 90th minute. The Amakhosi defender scored on his birthday as he headed home a set-piece, 4-0.
