Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs dismissed weekend media speculation that nine players were to be placed on the transfer market in a bit trim the squad to a reasonable number.

City Press reported that nine players were to be handed with "letters of notification" for their transfer. The paper further reported that defender Gary Goldstone was to be loaned to Santos while midfielder Nhlanhla Mathebula to Moroka Swallows.

"Other players said to be facing the chop are Phumlani Mkhize (photo), Justice Sithole, Kenny Niemach, Rene Richards, Sidney Moshikaro, Rodney Thobejane and Martin Carelse," the paper reported.

However, Amakhosi reiterated managing director Kaizer Motaung's view that no players would be transferred at this stage. The Chiefs MD said in his weekly Viewpoint that major changes in the playing personnel would only take place at the end of the season.

"We are almost halfway through the season and looking at what is currently available on the market, we strongly feel that there's no need for us to make any acquisitions. We will retain the current squad until the end of the season where we will obviously release some players and sign based on our needs," said Motaung.
