Kaizer Chiefs have been involved in a variety of activities to commemorate and celebrate Women’s Month. This time around Amakhosi arrived to show their support to the Greenside High School Annual Women’s Soccer Tournament that took place at Greenside High, Johannesburg, on Sunday, 19 August.
“For Kaizer Chiefs, it’s every day Women’s Month,” Amakhosi’s Corporate Communications Manager, Vina Maphosa highlighted the importance of supporting the tournament. “It’s a continuation of efforts to support the girls, to show them love and encourage them against all societal odds.”
Amakhosi used the opportunity to present Greenside High with a kit, which was presented on Sunday during the trophy presentation. “We want to show our support with tangible acts and to present this kit to the girls is the way of walking the talk,” added Maphosa.
“The Chiefs kit signifies royalty and it instills the winning spirit. The badge is iconic, the Chiefs story encourages greatness and this handover symbolizes exactly that.”
The Amakhosi delegation at the event included management and several players, including George Maluleka, Bhongolethu Jayiya, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya and Bruce Bvuma.
Greenside High Deputy Principal Mr Craig Strauss responded with appreciation, “This is a great gesture from Kaizer Chiefs. For Chiefs to be part of our event really caught the girls by surprise. We received amazing feedback from the participating schools about the involvement of Chiefs in the event.”
The annual event is the initiative of Greenside High to celebrate Women’s Month. Park Town Girls emerged 3-2 winners on penalty kicks over Rand Girls High.
“The girls will wear the Gold and Black jersey with pride,” concluded Strauss. “We really wish to express our gratitude to the club for their support.”
