Man of the Match, Arthur Bartman denied Lebohang Mokoena in the stoppage time to earn the Glamour Boys in a thrilling 2 all draw played in front of 26 000 vociferous fans Super Stadium on Saturday afternoon.



Sundowns were the first to open the score through a penalty from Katlego Mpela but his strike was cancelled by Knowledge Musona. Siphiwe Tshabalala came on from the bench to send the Amakhosi fans to the rafters with a well taken free kick but a lapse of concentration at the back allowed Sundowns to level the matters with Katlego Mpela completing his brace.



The Glamour Boys who soaked lot of pressure from the Brazilians have Bartman to thank for the outstanding saves he pulled in the game to silencing critics who questioned the decision to bring the 37 year old goalkeeper to Naturena following an injury to Itumeleng Khune and Thela Ngobeni then.



With Chiefs hoping to carry on where they left off against Ajax Cape Town, Vladimir Vermezovic handed young sensation, Knowledge Musona his first start of the campaign after the youngster gave in impressive performance in last week’s Macufe Cup.



He did not waste time threaten first for Chiefs as he forced Brian Baloyi to dive low with the younger striker trying to set up the on coming Nhleko.



Chiefs had the first effort at goals when Brain Baloyi denied Kaizer Motaung Jr who was trying to lob the oncoming goalkeeper. This was following a superb pass from Nkosinathi Nhleko.



The Glamour Boys who brought a depleted squad for the game saw Punch Masenamela replacing the injured Jimmy Jambo while Dominic Isaacs came in for the suspended, Thomas “Rambo”Sweswe.



With both teams looking for an early opener, Arthur Bartman did well to deny Katlego Mpela who only had a keeper to beat following a superb pass from his teammate Mabhuti Khenyeza.



Bartman who on top of his game ten minutes later as he denied Katlego Mpela in an one on one situation. This was following a defence splitting pass from Papi Zothwane, goalless after 23 minutes.



Bartman was at hand again few minutes later when he pulled another brilliant save denying Elias Pelembe from close range. Downs finally opened scoring in the 30th minute with a Katlego Mpela well taken penalty. This was after the Bafana Bafana striker was brought down inside of the box by Thabang Rooi. Sundowns went to the break leading by 1-0.



The visitors continued to pile pressure on the visitors and came close on two occasions with Arthur Bartman once again making a difference. In the 57th minute Chiefs levelled the matters through a well taken goal from Knowledge Musona.



Vermezovic made a double substitution bringing Siphiwe Tshabalala and Jose Torrealba replacing Nkosinathi Nhleko and Kaizer Motaung respectively. The two made an immediate impression with Jose Torrealba winning a free kick just outside the 18 area after he was brought down by the towering Mathew Booth. Siphiwe Tshabalala stepped up and curled the ball to the back of the net giving a hopeless Brain Baloyi no chance, 2-1 to Chiefs.



Mathew Booth should have been given his second caution of the game following his reckless tackle but referee Buyile Gqubule surprisingly waved play on to the frustration of Chiefs faithful.



Then a 72nd minute strike from Katlego Mpela levelled the matters at Super Stadium. This was after the Bafana Bafana striker was allowed to turn by defender, Thabang Rooi giving the diving Arthur Bartman no choice, 2 all.

Substitute Lebohang Mokoena had his stoppage time strike saved by Arthur Bartman who won Man of the Match award for his efforts in the afternoon.



Vladimir Vermezovic would have been the happier of the two coaches as he earned appoint away from home.

Chiefs will return back to Orlando Stadium hoping to register their first win when they host struggling Moroka Swallows on Wednesday night. Kick off for the game is at 19h30.
