Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs will be aiming to bounce back when they host Egyptian giants Zamalek SC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane this coming Saturday. Amakhosi are determined to overturn their opening setback in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, where they fell 2-1 to Al Masry SC in Suez, Egypt on Sunday evening.
Chiefs are expected back in South Africa on Tuesday morning and the team will immediately begin preparations for their second of six Group D fixtures. This match against Zamalek marks their first home clash of the group phase, with the Amakhosi faithful expected to turn out in numbers.
Zamalek started strongly, edging Zesco United of Zambia 1-0 in Cairo. That result puts the Egyptian side on three points, while Chiefs are searching for their first points. Saturday’s clash in Polokwane could prove decisive in shaping the group standings.
A key boost for the Glamour Boys will be the return of the experienced Gaston Sirino, who will be back in contention after serving a one-match suspension. His availability adds experience in continental competitions and attacking depth as Chiefs look to make a statement at home.
Tickets are available via Computicket online, as well as Shoprite and Checkers outlets for R80.
With redemption on the line, Chiefs supporters from Polokwane, Limpopo and other provinces are urged to rally behind the boys in this crucial fixture as Amakhosi will be looking to make Polokwane their fortress.
The big match between Kaizer Chiefs and Zamalek SC will kick off at 15:00 on Saturday at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
