On the final day of the 2002 – 2003 season Chiefs were playing away from home against Bush Bucks in Port Elizabeth, for The Amakhosi what ever the result would be was purely academic while Bush Bucks needed a win to stay in the PSL.

Anele Zibi seemed to have calmed the home fans with a goal in 56th minute, which put Bucks a goal up and three points looked a dead certainty that was up until injury time at the end of the game. While the Bucks players looked restlessly at the referee to signal an end to a game which had taken so much out of them, they some how managed at the one time in the season when they needed to be at their attentive best. Lacked discipline and Rodney Thobejane crept in to find a 91st minute equalizer for Chiefs.

Which ultimately sounded the death knell for Bush Bucks who were succumbed to a life of division one football, being relegated on the final day of the season is harsh and Chiefs are again in the position where there performance can determine whether a team remains in the big money league of the PSL or goes down. Black Leopards Chiefs opponents on Sunday will not want to be told of the epics of the final day of the 2002 – 2003 season, and Leopards who in midweek relegated Jomo Cosmos will be trying to make sure that the favour is not reversed on Sunday.

Defeat for Leopards will mean that they will have to go into a relegation play off something they will be looking to avoid, the worrying factor for Chiefs hosts on Saturday is that in the past six PSL seasons Leopards have only have beaten The Amakhosi once at home. That was more than six years ago in February 2002, since then Leopards best achievement against Chiefs at home was a 2-2 draw in December 2006 while Chiefs have been able to win on four of their last five visits to Leopards.

Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral has said that his team will not be on a holiday in the North of the country as he hopes to finish off the season with 43 points, and with a possible fourth place finish in the offing for The Amakhosi Ertugral will be looking for win number four in a row. A win against Leopards will also enable Chiefs to finish off the season by accumulating thirteen points off a possible fifteen from their last five league matches of the season.
