“Wow, this is fantastic,” Amakhosi legend Abel ‘Chaklas’ Shongwe stresses, while seeing the huge number of supporters at the Village this afternoon. “On the other hand, I am not surprised. Whenever Kaizer Chiefs organise something, huge numbers will turn up.”

Many fans rushed to meet Shongwe, to shake his hand, have a little chat or take a photo with him. The winger played for the Amakhosi for five seasons between 1986 and 1991, being loaned out in 1989.

One of the supporters enthusiastically greeting Shongwe is Temba Mjekelo from Chiefs’ Cape Town Strand Branch. He left home last night at seven to visit the Village this afternoon.

He’s excited to see Shongwe. “That was my player,” Mjekelo enthuses. “I cry when I see him.”

Then, the Amakhosi supporter adds: “I am so happy, I feel at home. I am with my family.”

The Village will be open for our fans until 20:00 tonight, including the KC Retail shop for supporters to buy a 2014/2015 Forever Fearless jersey and get two tickets to the Derby (while stock last).

There are several activations happening.

Ukhosi FM will broadcast from the Village today. So come to visit us. Let the excitement begin.
