Chiefs though for all their domination of possession had to chase the game after going behind to a Rotson Kilambe header on 62 minutes. The Amakhosi did start the game the brighter and had an opportunity to go ahead in the second minute when Simon Gopane standing in for the missing Posnet Ormoni in the Celtic goal fluffed a Scara Ngobese free kick but their were no chiefs players on hand to make the advantage count.
Early on Chiefs showed their intentions as Arthur Zwane and Shoes Moshoeu directed traffic towards the Celtic goal, with Moshoeu striking wide.
As the half progressed Chiefs began to create more opportunities first Thabo Mooki turned and skillfully shot only to find Gopane in the Celtic goal equal to the challenge. Three minutes later on 35 minutes Scara Ngobese shot from distance narrowly missing, although he could have laid the ball off to team mate David Radebe who was in a better goal scoring position.
Towards the end of the half Rowen Fernandez was forced into making and awkward save from Rotson Kilambe, which left the Amakhosi keeper in a lot of pain and ultimately meant he had to be replaced at the interval.
Chiefs began the second half in the same spirit and attacked from the out set with Arthur Zwane once again tormenting Elias Ngwepe on the right only to see his cross move across the Celtic goal with no yellow shirt able to follow up. Substitute goalkeeper Emile Baron making his debut for Chiefs and playing his first PSL game since the 1999 – 2000 season. Was in inspired form as he ran out and closed down Kleinbooi Taaibos who shot from close range, Baron was not so fortunate on 62 minute when Rotson Kilambe met with a cross from the right to give Celtics the lead.
With Celtic leading 1-0 Chiefs did not sit back but continued to be enterprising in attack with first Scara Ngobese seeing his goal bound attempt cleared off the line and than Arthur Zwane watched as Gopane saved well again.
Chiefs pressure paid off when Louis Agyemang rose between two Celtics defenders in the 84th minute to give Chiefs a well deserved equalizer.
As the clocked ticked down Chiefs were unfortunate not to win the point as Fabian McCarthy first headed against the up right and than Arthur Zwane saw his shot miraculously saved by Simon Gopane on the line.
