Kaizer Chiefs development side finished on 6th position in this year’s edition of Metropolitan Cup held in Belhar from 20 April - 25th April 2011.

Chiefs led by coaches, Ryder Mofokeng and Arthur Zwane arrived at the Club HQ in Naturena on Tuesday morning.

Coach, Ryder Mofokeng was satisfied with the effort put in by his team in the tournament, “I am proud of the boys. I do think they gave a very good account of themselves in the tournament. If you consider their ages and that they were playing for the first time in the tournament of this magnitude then one has to satisfied,” said Mofokeng speaking to kaizerchiefs.com.

The young Chiefs did well to proceed to the knockout stages of the tournament where they lost 3-2 on penalties against ASD Cape Town (full time score was 2 all). They also lost 3-2 on penalties against Dipetsana (it was goalless during open play) in the mid section finals.

“Most of the teams that we were able to beat are campaigning in the Vodacom League. This can only demonstrate that the team we have has a bright future. I am still going to sit down with co coaches in the development and maybe some of the boys in this team will play in our U19 side. Most of the boys are less than 17 years of age. We are now going to gear up for the league,” added Mofokeng.
