Kaizer Chiefs (0) 1 (Mphela 76 pen)

It was a bittersweet night for the Amakhosi in the penultimate matches of the 2013/14 Psl season. Kaizer Chiefs beat Tuks by an odd goal, courtesy of Mphela's 76th minute converted penalty. On the same night Chiefs conceded the Championship to Tshwane based outfit Mamelodi Sundowns.

Coach Baxter was gracious to concede the Championship he won in his first season with the Amakhosi. Baxter unreservedly congratulated the Champions for what he termed a deserved victory for Pitso Mosimane and his lads.

Congratulations,

"I would like to put it on record to congratulate Sundowns. Pitso (Mosimane) and his lads were able to keep the nerves. The log doesn't lie, whichever way you look at it, the best Team in a season is a Team on top of the log," Baxter said.

About the Tuks match,

"I am pleased with the win. We consolidated our second position on the log and the players deserve to be right there with the leaders. I'm pleased with the lads after running on empty for sometime now. I do not want to sound any excuse at this stage. At times we played well but we lacked imagination on the final third but generally I am pleased with the proceedings tonight,"

The way forward,

"We will not go into a panic mode. We will take stock after the final game. We will sit with Bobby (Motaung) to take stock and determine the way forward. We will look at the players but I'm not one for a massive squad. We will look at where there's a need, where we need to create a balance and make a determination accordingly,"

Kaizer Chiefs end the season 2nd to Sundowns in Psl 2013/14 season.

A disappointed Coach Baxter confirmed that his side will go on and play their final match against Amazulu with the aim to win. "Bobby (Motaung) has told us now in the dressing room that we have to play for the pride, for the points that could have won the league in any season and for the next season," said Baxter.

Chiefs host Amazulu in their final match on Saturday, 10 May 2014. Kickoff for all the final Psl matches is at 15:00.
